A flag specifically for enby and masc aligned achillean folks. Whether you're a trans man, trans masc, masculine leaning, or you're agender or gender-fluid and identify with maleness more... and are into other men and masc individuals o: This flag is meant for you. Feel free to use the flag wherever! I'd prefer to be credited, but it really isn't needed unless you are using this for art or editing it in any way.

Under the read more I'll go in depth into intentions with this flag, and what all the colors and design choices mean on the flag!

There seems to be a lot of flags for gay men and a few for mlm in general, but I wanted this to be specifically for non-cis masc/male aligned folks into other masc/male aligned folks. Doesn't matter how masculine you are, if you indentify with masculinity and maleness more than femininity and are achillean then!! feel free to use!!

I wanted this flag to be all inclusive, and gave deep thought to every color and the design choice to include a darker portion of the flag and yellow half moon/circle.

Now on to color stuff!

The purple is for the acceptance of femininity that trans men desperately need[as in people saying trans men can't be fem if they're trans], as well as the nature of being masc aligned not necessarily meaning you can't have feminine traits [so like masc aligned enbies who are gender fluid or just like dresses or other ""typical"" feminine things.]

The blue is for masculinity, and vowing to not lean into toxic masculinity. Knowing that maleness does not need to mean what western society has taught us.

The turquoise is for sexuality/sexual attraction[or lack thereof], and how often times men, or masc aligned people are expected to be hyper sexual and the fact that we need to break away from that assumption/expectation. It's for the acceptance of all the varying sexualities and how sexuality can sometimes affect non-binary and masc aligned gender expression!!

The darker colors inside of the half circle are for those of us who can't or don't want to medically/physically transition, for whatever reason. Especially for those of us who have heavy dysphoria or are still figuring ourselves out.

And lastly!! The yellow half circle/half moon shape are for achillean intersex people who identify as trans.

i'm having a... what's the word for something when it's not a "crisis" because you know exactly what's wrong and have known for years, but it's surging up again and you don't quite know what to do about it?

i've been out as agender to close friends and family, and on the internet, for..... 7 years now? maybe a little less.

but the thing is. with the exception of online friends (who can't be around all the time anyway), i don't really. get understood, i guess.

i get misgendered at home. deadnamed. she/her'd. it's not malicious or intentional but it still hurts when Every. Single. Sentence. for the whole entire day. has a she/her or a deadname in it. and i correct them and correct them and correct them and eventually the weight of it gets too much and i cry for hours once every couple months and explain to them that it hurts and it's wrong and i'm not a girl, stop it and NOTHING EVER CHANGES and

this is slipping a bit closer to venting than i would like

what i'm trying to say

i'm in texas. "good ol'" american south, full of republicans and conservatives and therefore bigots and prejudiced folk. i don't feel safe being out as myself in public.

the other problem is that i'm also severely, severely sex repulsed. i'm in therapy and we address this topic from time to time, but the long and short of it is that i'm deeply, deeply uncomfortable with sexual topics happening around me.

and every time i try and reach out to transgender support groups or in more general queer communities or such, it's often a topic that comes up. sex. in many and varied forms. and i don't want to be the asshole that takes a group marginalized for their relationship to sex and tell them not to talk about their relationship to sex in a space literally set up to be safe for them to talk about it. but it does leave me feeling i don't have a place to belong. because i don't fit in with the cisgender heterosexual crowd, i don't fit in with the queer crowd that isn't sex repulsed, and the few sex repulsed folks are so rare that i've never met another one like me in real life, and only maybe two or three across a decade and a half of online life.

it's so lonely. i just want someone there that will they/them me, someone i can talk to about considering neopronouns without it being a massive fight for respect all the time, someone that i can talk to about wondering if it's internalized misogyny that keeps me from identifying as genderfluid, or if i really am Not-A-Girl, and the times that i feel comfortable in my body for once are just indications that i'm healing a bit from the complete despair i felt in my younger years.

sigh i guess this is like. sfw queer folks where you at. let me ramble to you for hours and then vanish into social anxiety for a month and still be there when i come back

i'm a mess

leparom -

I'm so sorry you have to go through this and I hope you'll be and feel safe soon! You can talk with me, too. :)

pilica-nevarya -

Okay I was just again on tumblr and I am already hating it again. Especially this time around with some of the tendencies it has so... I'd want to formulate a little wish to the waterfall community since pride month comes up: (feel free to add on)

- Do NOT spread hate towards cishets. With that I mean stuff like "Cishets are the devil/the worst and should die" etc. Why? With this you ARE turning allies and potential allies away. INSTEAD call the nasty ones by their name: Transphobes, homophobes, aphobes, etc.. Because that is what you hate isn't it? Cishets do nothing wrong by merely existing such as no one in the LGBTQ+ community does anything wrong by merely existing. Projecting your hate on the awful individuals onto the whole group is only going to do bad and guess what? Increases the hate towards each other. Especially if cishets from countries where such mentalities are not the norm are reading it they will NOT understand where your hate comes from towards all of them and if they are greeted by such messages they will have no motivation to even find out.

- Queer/"q slur": It is a word with history we all know that. A history of being used as a slur AND an empowering word. "We're here, we're queer - get used to it!" No one HAS to reclaim it but there are many people who do, since decades. If you do not feel comfortable being called queer that is fine and you have every right for that. On that topic: A general post having the word queer in it does not refer to you personally and you personally were NOT called queer. It is just an umbrella term. It is not used everywhere as a slur in some countries queer is the umbrella term to go to where everyone is included. Gay is used as a slur in multiple countries as well, same with lesbian. You will never find a bigger term that is free of being used as a slur. It is important that we understand our different preferences in this aspect: If someone calls you personally queer you tell them you don't want to be refered to that. They should excuse and stop using it for you. End of story. If the elders in the community can accept their different opinions on this and move on so can we. I trust the waterfall community to handle this good.

- Please don't turn it into a competition on who is more oppressed. It's not "Who's the most oppressed?!"-month. It's pride month. Take pride in WHO you are! Support each other instead of going "You aren't as oppressed as me so shut the fuck up!".

- Not just a pride month thing but in general: Subcommunities are fine and well but for the love of anything: Stop that categorial thinking! We are all different yet the same. We all know some form of oppression and violence towards us even if it is differing. We, as a community, should know the best how it is to be excluded so why are we excluding each other? And it's not just an internet thing. Just the day ago I was calling with a gay friend of mine who's leading a queer-youth group in the city who wanted to invite a nb friend of his and got the response "how many white cis gays are there?". Who cares? Such groups and the internet are there for communication and exchange! We all can learn from each other. Especially in a group focusing on such a topic there should be an accepting, understanding and tolerance to each other.

Help me make a more varied LGBTQ playlist

kishi -

So I'm making a playlist of queer songs I actually like.

because I feel like a lot of the ones I see just have coming out songs, troye sivan and hayley kiyoko on them without any songs regarding trans, ace, poc topics .

so I wanna make a mix of the decent popular 'gay songs' with my favourite indie queer artists so people looking for that sort of thing can be introduced to a variety of queer artists that might speak to them more intricately. Though it's intended to fit my music preferences, my preferences are also pretty versatile so if anyone wants to comment any LGBTQ songs/artists that have a real vibe to them lmk and I'll check them out and add them to the playlist

(probably gonna publish it in a few weeks - gotta work out which songs are on spotify/YT exclusively and which are on both)

so i'm doing math on harpy time and trying to decide how their calendar would work out, and by complete coincidence things are ending up similarly to the human calendar and i'm Mad because the similarity truly IS a coincidence and the math just Makes Sense that way

the star i'm using, zeta doradus, has a habitable zone at about 1.2 AU away, which would make a harpy year roughly 420 days long (blaze it?). harpies count in base 14 because they have 14 digits on their hands, so i thought, why not have 14 months in a year? but following that logic, why not have 7 days a week- but NO because humans have a calendar of 7 days a week, even though they count in base 10. so to be contrary, i Could do 5 days a week.

okay. maybe. so 420 divided by 14 is 30, divided by 5 is 6, therefore 6 weeks a month for 14 months a year. but that means 30 days a month which is ALSO like the human calendar, and i'm mad again because this calendar is marginally more logical and less arbitrary than the human one, but it doensn't look like it, it looks like i COPIED the arbitrary and silly human one, when i'm being LOGICAL

so tl;dr i'm pouting :<

beefox -

human math for day make no sense, base calander off something else. Don't have to be rotation of planet around star, could be base spiritual or similar

therainfallsystem -

i thought about that, yeah, i just can't quite justify it to myself why this society wouldn't have a calendar that would allow for predicting weather patterns for agriculture and animal care and whatnot reliably. so the revolution around the star thing makes sense, at least for what i currently have.....

and the whole 14 months thing makes sense, because i could have one month for each harpy god, with one extra for an "inversion festival" kind of month, where the year is "dead" or something and normal social rules don't apply. like. human halloween, for example, where people go around hiding their faces and identities, and celebrating with food and sweets and whatnot. except for a longer span of time, maybe like a week or two out of the "dead" month

the thing i'm the Least confident about is having a month system at all- i'm not certain what kind of moon(s) the harpy planet has, and without an easily predictable moon schedule i'm not sure months would come about at all

but i Do think harpies would track days, and more broadly seasons, and more broadly than that years..... the week system is a bit more unlikely, but still rather likely, as tracking patterns of "workdays" versus "days off" in a repeating pattern would make things convenient.....

idk i kinda jumped on your reblog to ramble some more thoughts oops

i don't know! some stuff to think about

leparom -

okay so prime factorization says 2*2*3*5*7=420.

So instead of 14 months with 30 days, you could do

  • 12 months, 35 days, 5/7 days per week

  • 7 months, 60 days, 5/6/10 days per week

  • 15 months, 28 days, 4/7 days per week

  • 10 months, 42 days, 6/7 days per week

to be in range of human calendars. Instead of the months being divisible by 14, you have the days (and number of weeks) in a month divisible by 7, which is one hand.

An easy skip of this would be to shove the 420 to a spot, still divisible by at least one of the three prime numbers 3, 5 and 7. You said it's roughly 1.2 AU away. I don't know how you calculate that but Ill assume you rounded because 420 haha because 365.25*1.2 is 438.3 .

Keeping the 7 for the 14 finger system and having an exact amount of weeks for the year (opposed to the gregorian calendar, unsure about jewish and muslim ^^) you can shift that to

  • 441 which is 3*3*7*7, which then gives you 9-day-weeks, 7 weeks in a month and 7 months in a year. Or 7-day-weeks, 21-days in a month of 3 weeks, 21 months in a year

  • 434 which is 2*7*31 and that's both a prime number and the gregorian month length.

Of course you could shift that differently to get rid of the 7. Or make them have not 7 but 6 fingers.

therainfallsystem -

oh wow you've put so much thought into thisssss

first of all i'm shaking my head at myself because how is my math That Bad with the 1.2 AU because like. that's literally the most simple multiplication what did i do omg

but okay. into the meat of this. first of all x2 combo i'm quite attached to the 7 finger hand, as i've done snippets of writing mentioning it and the thought of going back and looking for all mentions of that to change sounds Exhausting

honestly i might reconsider the number of days in a year altogether, and do like 1.24 or 1.15 AU away and recalculate from there (assuming i don't heck up the simple math again omg), because unless this society reinvented their calendar and time units upon having precise understanding of the time it takes for a revolution around the sun and rearranged things to be mathematically precise rather than clinging to an imprecise one out of cultural relevance, i just don't see things fitting neatly into exact weeks n months to reach the end of the year.

the more i think about it the more i'm fond of a religious set up for months of the year. the harpy pantheon has one Parent god and then 12 child gods, for 13 total. if i do some sort of thing where there are 12 smaller months and then the 13th larger month, in some sort of porportional amount of respect to the gods, that can also allow for imprecise daycounts that i like.

hmmmm lots of thinky stuff to think about

beefox -

think big thing to remember which true about human too, months not regular. Infact months so irrgular that need ryhme to remeber days in each. Seasons not perfect and depend on many thing not just rotational position around sun. Maybe harpy planet tilt result in 4 season, but two short? (not sure how season work really, just food thought)

therainfallsystem -

yes i definitely want to make things not quite Mathematically Precise because that's Boring

hhf sorry i don't have more to say i'm not awake yet today

leparom -

haha that's also valid

but instead of recalculating from a random number close to 1.2 you could rather go to your preferred numbers of days and months and such and multiply and see what's closest.

so one month is 2*17 (prime number, redicing the 3,5,7) =34 days, has 4 weeks of 7/8 days bla

one week is 8 days (two free days, i have a whole thing about that thought including handling of holidays) 5.5 weeks in a month almost 10 months in a year.

human years and months also aren't straight in their sum

or go all random and throw dice ^^

therainfallsystem -
